No Bull, Joshua is the real deal

CHATSWORTH’S Joshua “The Bull” Chetty won the first Champions of War tournament at the recently concluded Arnold Classic event at the Ruimsig Stadium precinct on the West Rand.

Chetty, 30 revealed his credentials as a leading South African wrestler by beating five foes over two days.

His path to lifting the trophy

Defeating Super Dragon: In his opening contest Chetty took on Super Dragon and snuffed out his fire, with a Brogue Kick before pinning him.

Student versus the teacher

In his second match, Chetty took on Matthew Hammer. The match was seen as a battle between student and teacher. Hammer proved a tough challenge due to his speed and agility, but Chetty managed to give him a spear in mid-air to secure the win.

TJ Tremor interferes

Next to feel the charge of The Bull was Allessio. This was a back-and-forth battle as both men gave it their all, but TJ Tremor interrupted the match by pulling the referee out of the ring. He attacked Allessio and Chetty before putting the latter on top of Allessio to get the win.

A match against Mr Wrestling

Chetty then faced his most formidable challenge in his fourth match when he took on the CPW World Heavyweight champion Mr Wrestling, Freddie Harmse. The match was another intense battle, but Chetty picked up the victory thanks to another interference, this time by The Crow.

Spear versus Spear

In the final, Chetty locked eyeballs with The X-Terminator. The match was billed as a Spear vs Spear match, as both men use it as their finishing move. After a hard battle, Chetty hit The X-Terminator with a Spear to get the three-count. The win wasn’t without controversy, as The X-Terminator insisted he kicked out before the referee counted to three.

This led to Champions Pro Wrestling’s (CPW) CEO, Mark Beale, coming down to the ring and ruling that Chetty had won the match and the tournament.

Chetty, who runs the Supplements Shop in The Rock Gym and Wellness Centre in Chatsworth, spoke highly about his first experience at the Arnold Classic, praising the crowd for their support.

“The audience’s reaction was on another level. Even though it was very hot, they stayed and supported us. The crowd was cheering me on, which helped me wrestle better,” he said.

Beale had nothing but praise for Chetty. “Joshua is one of the hardest workers in professional wrestling today. He is so fit and an absolute example for professional wrestling,” Beale said.

He also praised Chetty’s work ethic, describing how hard he trained and how he looked fresh despite wrestling five matches

in two days.

“He’s a future icon for South African wrestling and on the path to carrying titles in the CPW. I foresee a bright future for him and gold around his waist,” Beale added.
