Lone dissenting voice

SALOSHNI SUBRAMUNIAN Chatsworth

THE voters who voted for all the small parties that promised improved service delivery in the eThekwini Municipality have not been vocal about the possible collapse of the city.

The only small party we hear of is African Democratic Change (ADeC) and its leader Visvin, Reddy.

He has been vocal in the mainstream and social media about the lack of service delivery in the city.

Reddy has called out certain senior officials who are not performing and also requested the performance contracts of all heads of departments to be independently audited and reviewed.

It is impossible for all the heads of departments to receive incentives by achieving their targets but fail in their key performance indicators or service delivery indicators.

If eThekwini was run like a private entity, I would assume that half of its workforce would be fired, including management and the staff on the ground.

It is strange that the smaller parties are not critical about the ANC-led municipality. It seems as if there is a binding legal contract between them and the ANC, and for them not to bad mouth the ANC.

If this is the case, then their supporters/voters have been sold out, unlike the voters that voted for ADeC, who can see Reddy has their interests at heart – by risking his life in exposing the rot at the municipality and to improve service delivery.

Well done, Mr Reddy. Keep it up.
