No 1 hit parade show at the Barnyard

POST REPORTER

THE Barnyard Theatre at Suncoast has brought back musical shows for those nostalgic for the old-school jams.

The show, Strictly No 1’s, features songs by music icons including Elvis Presley, Cher and The Beatles.

The production aims to give the audience an electrifying performance that feels like going back in time in a tribute to some of the 1980s music icons and rock bands.

Some of the musical performances include hits from U2, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd and Van Halen.

A press statement said: “Strictly No 1’s is a roller-coaster ride through 60 years of No 1 hit songs that made us dance, sing, cry and party until sunrise.

“The show features a 10-piece cast, who will take you back to the hit parade number one songs on radio stations around the world.

“What makes the show unique is the ability to include different genres and musicals from all over the world.

“It is fun for all ages, all music tastes and celebrates all styles of fashion and song. The show includes some of the songs that made it to number one in South Africa, the UK, Australia and the USA.

“The show also salutes South African legends such as Johnny Clegg, Mango Groove, Kurt Darren and Master KG, and pop sensations like Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran and Jennifer Lopez,” the statement said.

Strictly No 1’s is directed by Duck Chowles.

Jessica Shand, the theatre manager, said: “This is a two-hour show with a live band. The most popular songs in the show are from Adele and Kings of Leon.”
