Forgiveness must not be forced

DURING the process of healing, forced forgiveness is not the best option. People are hurt and leaders and political parties feel the pressure to ask people to forgive those that wronged them. It can be difficult to ignore.

We hear forgiveness is essential. We hear that it’s the only way to heal and move on.

But from experiences in our country, we know it’s not true. Sometimes forgiveness is not the best option but it’s up to the individual to decide if you will forgive or not.

If you forgive too quickly, it may result in you suppressing your anger and the incident is likely to happen again.

Forgiveness must come from those that caused the hurt. People should not control the decision. It must not be forced.
