Tenant came into my life for a reason

LEELA RAJCOOMARIE CHERYL MOONSAMY Pinetown

I MET Leela Rajcoomarie around March this year. She rented a room on our property in Pinetown and soon she become an aunty to me.

I was close to my gran but she died when I was about 21. I always wished I had a chance to do things for her but this aunty, I believe, came into my life for a reason. I was blessed to have known her.

Even though it seems like a short while, I spent every day with her. I checked on her about three times a day to see if she was okay or needed anything. If she needed to go to the shop, I took her. I enjoyed spending many hours with her and listening to her stories. She prepared delicious food and everything I ever said I liked to eat.

She recently got sick and spent a few days in hospital. She had underlying issues and contracted Covid. But we did not know she had the virus. She passed away on August 30 and her funeral was on September 2.

I’m so glad that I got to call and speak to her before her passing. I will never forget her. She was my best friend and I hope that I was hers in the last few months we shared. She gave me an opportunity I never had with my gran and I am forever grateful to have had her in my life. I wish her grandchildren had spent more time with her, to have got to know what an awesome gran she was to me and my kids.

You are sorely missed. I will miss hearing your voice. I will miss popping in to your house, and I will miss you for a long time. Rest well, Aunty.
