Life is not the same

JAYSHREE RAMDHANI Pinetown

MY DEAREST mother, Kay Bhagwandin, was born on January 1, 1946. She grew up in Cato Manor and before marriage, she lived in Chatsworth.

After marrying my dad, they moved to Asherville and later to High Point in Overport. In 1999, my parents, brother, sister, aunt and I moved to Pinetown; and in October 2002 my dad passed away.

My mother was a warm-hearted person. She never let guests leave without a home-cooked meal. My mom never said no when help was needed for any family function preparations. No home function could be done without inviting extended family.

In August 2018, my brother, Rajesh Bhagwandin, passed away and my mother’s health deteriorated. She was not the same. She was always sad and she could not come to terms with his death. On November 23, 2019, we received sad news about her passing. Life and home without her is not the same

In February this year, we lost my aunty, Radha Rajkumar, the last siblings from my mom’s family. Having lost three family members in such a short space of time has left my sister and I heartbroken. With a heavy heart this Pitra Paksha marks our second offering for our mom.

Forever in our hearts, Kay Nannie. Love, your gals RB and JB and your precious grandchildren, Jia and Sameer.
