Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

THE American action-adventure, directed by Steven Spielberg, tells the story of Indiana Jones, portrayed by Harrison Ford, and Willie Scot, an American nightclub singer and performer, played by Kate Capshaw.

After arriving in India the adventurer is asked by a desperate village to trace a mysterious stone and rescue missing children from a cult practising dark magic.

Willie is unprepared for this roller-coaster ride with Indiana but later the pair become romantically involved.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was released in the US on May 23, 1984. It was nominated for the Academy Award for best original score and won the Academy Award for best visual effects. A sequel, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, followed in 1989.

Ford has gained worldwide fame for his starring roles in numerous films such as Star Wars, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Blade Runner, Witness and The Fugitive.

With the fifth Indiana Jones film having been delayed by a year, Ford headlined a big-budget adaptation of Jack London’s The Call of the Wild, playing prospector John Thornton.

According to Wikipedia.com, the film was released in February last year to a mixed critical reception but its theatrical release was shortened because of the impact of the coronavirus disease on the film industry.

Wikipedia.org said that Ford was placed number four on the list of the highest-grossing domestic box office stars of all time. The US domestic box office grosses of his films made more than $5.1 billion, with worldwide grosses surpassing $9.3bn.

He is married to actress Calista Flockhart. He has four biological children and one adopted child.

Capshaw is an American actress who was directed by her eventual husband, Spielberg, in Temple of Doom. Since then, she starred in Dreamscape, Power, SpaceCamp, Black Rain, Love Affair, Just Cause

and The Love Letter.

She also starred in a number of television series.

Capshaw married Spielberg on October 12, 1991, and has retired from acting. There are seven children in the Spielberg-Capshaw family.
