Pulp Fiction

PULP Fiction is a 1994 American neo-noir black comedy crime film. It was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, who conceived it with Roger Avary.

The film was hailed 1994’s masterpiece, according to Wikipedia.org. It starred John Travolta, Samuel L Jackson, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman. The move tells several stories of crime in Los Angeles.

The title refers to the pulp magazines and crime novels popular during the mid-20th century, known for their graphic violence and punchy dialogue.

Pulp Fiction won the Palme d’Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival, and it was a major critical and commercial success. It was nominated for seven awards at the 67th Academy Awards and it won best original screenplay.

Pulp Fiction is regarded as Tarantino’s masterpiece, with praise for its screenwriting. It is often considered a cultural watershed, influencing films and other media that adopted elements of its style.

The cast was also praised, with Jackson earning acclaim. In 2008, Entertainment Weekly named it the best film since 1983 and it has appeared on many critics’ lists of the greatest films made.

Where are they now?

Jackson is a highly prolific actor, having appeared in more than 150 films. He has provided his voice for several animated films, documentaries, television series and video games.

Last year, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Jackson encouraged people to wear masks. He also read a satirical book, Stay the F*ck at Home, spreading awareness about physical distancing.

Travolta rose to fame during the 1970s, appearing on the television sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter (1975 to 1979) and starring in the box office successes Carrie (1976), Saturday Night Fever (1977), Grease (1978) and Urban Cowboy (1980).

His acting career declined throughout the 1980s, but he enjoyed a resurgence in the 1990s with his role in Pulp Fiction. He has since acted in many films.

Following the death of his wife, Kelly Preston, last July, Travolta hinted on his Instagram account that he would be putting his career on hold: “I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.”
