Dirty Dancing

DIRTY Dancing is a romantic drama about a young woman (Jennifer Grey), who falls in love with dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) at a holiday resort.

According to Wikipedia.org, the film premiered at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival and earned more than $214 million worldwide.

The movie’s soundtrack, I’ve Had The Time Of My Life, won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for best original song and a Grammy Award for best duet. The film’s popularity led to a 2004 prequel, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, and a stage version, which has had sellout performances in Australia, Europe and North America, according to Wikipedia.org.

Where are they now?

Swayze, who was also made famous for the thriller movie Ghost, was a threetime Golden Globe Award nominee. He was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1997.

In May 1997, Swayze was injured while filming Letters from a Killer near Ione, California, when he fell from a horse and hit a tree, according to Wikipedia.org. His legs were broken and he had trouble resuming his career until 2000, when he co-starred with Melanie Griffith in Forever Lulu,.

In 2008, Swayze was diagnosed with

pancreatic cancer. A year later, he was hospitalised with pneumonia, which was said to be a complication of chemotherapy for his cancer. His cancer then spread to his liver. He died in September 2009.

Grey did feature films which included Redbelt (2008), The Wind Rises (2013), In Your Eyes (2014) and Bittersweet Symphony

(2019). She also did television shows and won the 11th season in 2010 of Dancing With The Stars.

Grey has done voice-over work, lending her voice to animated series like Phineas and Ferb.

According to Wikipedia.org, she is married to actor/director Clark Gregg and they have a daughter.
