Your actions are hurting SA, Mr Malema

AN OPEN letter to Julius Malema, leader of the EFF

Dear Mr Malema

The latest video clip on the president, the Indian cabal and our governor-general cannot go unchallenged. As a South African, I express my respect to you as an astute politician but more often an opportunist.

I could write at length about your time in the ANC Youth League, how you allegedly bankrupted the Limpopo government and created such chaos that it required administration.

Also, on how you sank the ANC Youth League, which has yet to be resuscitated.

While I remain a normal civilian, without any political affiliation presently or employed by the government, deep down I know many South Africans of various cultures, racial backgrounds and political affiliation will attest to the following.

Your disrespect to our president, Cyril Ramaphosa, is unacceptable by a leader of the opposition.

He is among the best in South Africa presently and he deserves respect immaterial of your disagreement. Politics requires parties to expose each other’s failures but this needs to be done with honour or purpose.

This should not be done by denigrating unsubstantiated rhetoric. Ironically, Ramaphosa holds an international profile, which you cannot accept.

As for Minister Pravin Gordhan, you and the EFF continue to, without merit or evidence, attack his integrity. His Struggle credentials and his role in government speak volumes for themselves.

The showdown of the EFF during the budget vote against Gordhan has been condemned by your co-parliamentarians and censor has been instituted.

Your continuous allegations are ways of you hiding the inadequacies of your leadership and the party as you have little to offer.

Is the dislike for Minister Gordhan due to the Sars issue that made you lose your property in Sandton that you have made your attack on him now personal?

The insult to our Sars commissioner, by way of inference, lacks insight into the work that needs to be done post the Tom Moyane era.

You try to create anarchy where there is order.

The insult to the governor of the Reserve Bank, Lesetja Kganyago, is deplorable and smacks of downright disrespect.

He has brought stability to the Reserve Bank and he deserves all the credit for his role. By undermining his role, you are being hypocritical and downright deceitful.

You have made a name for yourself and your party by ensuring former president Jacob Zuma is embarrassed by the clashes in Parliament during Sona debates.

Your party was formed as a result of your suspension by the ANC. Your track record is dubious and is made glamorous where opponents have come short in leadership.

Ironically, the present leadership you attack cannot be seen in that category.

These are South African leaders irrespective of their racial background, making a difference towards a better South Africa for all. It is something you do not subscribe to.

You look at people in racial backgrounds rather than their ability. As South Africans, we have several challenges.

We have issues of poverty, high unemployment, corruption and large disparity between the rich and the poor. For many, the issues of race have to be tackled as we build a country for our future generations of all race groups.

By branding racial hatred on your posts, this does not help. You will be well advised that the rhetoric you preach has its shortcomings and does not help with social cohesion among our people.
